Venture building

Ventures.

We co-found, invest in and grow businesses across Africa's real economy, combining aligned capital with active operating support.

The future we wantto help build.

Four sector convictions that shape where we invest time, capability and aligned capital.

01

Mining & resources

African operators can unlock safer production, auditable supply and durable local capability.

Open convictionsClose convictions
  1. 01

    Safety is the binding constraint

Reserves are not the bottleneck. Risk and workforce incidents cap production. Real-time risk intelligence can unlock output others cannot reach.

  2. 02

    Compliance as moat

Demand for critical minerals will outstrip auditable supply. African assets that prove zero-harm, traceable production can capture a structural pricing premium.

  3. 03

Talent, not tech, is the lead

Trained local engineers and operators are the scarce input. Capital-only entrants without a talent pipeline will be commoditised.

02

Industrial data & technology

Trusted industrial data infrastructure will matter more than another layer of disconnected technology.

Open convictionsClose convictions
  1. 01

    Interoperability over instrumentation

The determinant is not sensor coverage, it is fragmentation. Owners will pay to unify existing data, not simply generate more of it.

  2. 02

Data provenance is the monetisable layer

Analytics is becoming a commodity. Lenders and insurers will price verified, auditable data. The moat is trust infrastructure, not dashboards.

  3. 03

    Vertical beats horizontal

Industrial data is too domain-specific for generic platforms to defend value. Specialist marketplaces built around one asset class will outperform horizontal players.

03

Manufacturing

Regional demand, supply-chain shifts and the installed asset base create a focused path to scalable manufacturing.

Open convictionsClose convictions
  1. 01

    Import substitution first

Africa's near-term edge is regional manufacturing for regional demand. Logistics and cost favour local supply before export ambitions become credible.

  2. 02

The export window is real and closing

Friend-shoring and supply-chain de-risking from concentrated geographies create a genuine, time-limited opening for export-ready fabrication.

  3. 03

    Aftermarket beats new-build

Lifecycle and remanufacturing services for the existing installed base are lower-capex, faster to scale and higher-margin than new fabrication.

04

Real assets & investments

The strongest opportunities pair patient capital with disciplined operations and rigorous cash-flow underwriting.

Open convictionsClose convictions
  1. 01

Patient capital fills a real gap

African real assets are often underpriced because their risk-adjusted returns require a longer holding period than most capital will accept.

  2. 02

    Discipline, not capital, is scarce

The binding constraint is not a shortage of patient capital. It is a shortage of professional operating discipline applied to assets that already exist.

  3. 03

    Underwrite cash flow first

Impact framing should not dilute investment discipline. Productive assets must stand on defensible cash flows. Impact is a byproduct, not the return driver.
